Performance research (as defined by my friend Ben Spatz) is the rigorous investigation of performance technique with the goal of expanding performative possibilities in concrete ways. The word "research" here indicates that a practice is organized according to the criteria of knowledge production - that is, the discovery of what is objectively new within a specific and clearly delimited area of practice.
Iíve named the particular approach to performance research Iíve embarked on The Dancing Word. The studio where this research takes place is called Les Ateliers du corps. You can also find here some early examples of my performance research.
